Since 1982 when founder and celebrated bridal stylist Donna Kelly opened her boutique on Chicago’s prestigious Oak Street. With a vision for elegance and a deep understanding of couture bridal fashion, Donna quickly created a destination where brides could experience exceptional service and timeless style.
After a decade of growth at 106 E. Oak Street, on the second floor, Donna welcomed a young Loyola University graduate named Elena, who had studied fashion merchandising. Elena had long dreamed of working on Oak Street. Just a year before joining Ultimate Bride, she had visited the street on a class field trip with her professor and instantly felt drawn to its elegance and sophistication. That moment planted a seed that would ultimately shape her career.
Elena began at Ultimate Bride as the front desk coordinator, but her natural eye for fashion and keen sense for bridal style quickly stood out. Donna recognized her talent and soon promoted her into the office, where Elena began assisting with buying and curating collections. Her intuition, work ethic, and passion for bridal fashion helped her rise quickly within the company.
In 1994, after several years of growth and mentorship, Elena purchased Ultimate Bride. Under her leadership, the boutique entered an exciting new era. Elena became known for discovering and championing emerging designers, bringing fresh talent and couture craftsmanship to Chicago brides. Her refined taste and dedication to elegance established her as a respected figure in the bridal industry, and her career flourished as she built a legacy of style, mentorship, and innovation.
In 2013, Elena faced her next great battle when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought courageously with the same strength and grace that defined her life and career. In 2016, the bridal industry lost a true star, but Elena’s impact and inspiration remain deeply woven into Ultimate Bride.
Today, her family, along with an exceptional staff and team of designers, proudly continues her vision. Every gown selected, every bride celebrated, and every moment created carries forward Elena’s passion for elegance and her enduring legacy.
